That's a good question, theologically speaking. Gabriel is just known as "The Angel Gabriel" and the Metatron doesn't even get a title other than seraphim, unless you count "voice of God" which I don't. How can a non human entity be considered canonized saint in the Catholic mythology? Is it possible that St. Micheal is a variation of St. George?
Incidentally he's a reworking of a prechristian hero who defeats the dragon of drought which had been demanding impossible tribute from the humans and strangling their civilisation. Having done so he releases the waters of plenty and the humans thrive once more. So the comparison is doubly appropriate.
