Greedy monopoly Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard in 68.7 billion dollar deal. It's time for the government to break up Microsoft with anti trust.

submitted by MatthewJuly1313 to gaming 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 11:14:15 ago (+31/-3)     (gaming)

Fuck Bill Gates and fuck Microsost. This is why we have anti trust laws. This deal cannot be allowed to go through. First Bethesda then a deal with Sega to make everything of their's excusive to Xbox now Activision Blizzard? I bet you my home and bank account Microsoft isn't done with deals like this they have no talent to create so they're just buying the market and that is illegal Microsoft is breaking the law.

Like it or not, video games are an important front in the culture war.

I can't tell of that is sarcasm or not.

If it isn't then it makes my point that gaming is useless and we are in big fucking trouble. I see this every day IRL: The kids are even less prepared for what is coming than their parents, yet people keep making up magical excuses that it's all somehow for the better.

I'm sure Q predicted this....

This is kind of my thoughts on it. The real cooperate evil these days come from big pharma, government workers unions and media. You dont like using windows you can get on the web on a mac or use linux. Stupid as POZZED games are the least of our worries.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck -1 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 21:14:08 ago (+0/-1)

Exactly; now watch all the soy faggots come out and defend the time and money they waste pushing electrons around on a screen. I mean, I'm sure they're fully prepped for what is coming and have shitloads of IRL skills mastered, but still....

standard oil had half the monopolistic power when it was broken up

[ - ] SulemanSeinfeld 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 12:12:19 ago (+2/-2)

Yeah but Bill Gates is twice the businessman JDR was.

I couldn't even type that without laughing.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 21:16:25 ago (+0/-0)

And got even more after it was broken up. That is why we keep seeing the name Rockefeller in the who's who of Illuminati demon spawn.

That's all Google ever did, buy other companies while growing massive. And the gov bends over backwards to accommodate them. They won't be broken up until long after a "corporate congress" has ownership of the U.S.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 21:11:38 ago (+0/-0)

Who do you thing created google? Why is .gov protecting them?

Gaming is dead. Oh well. Let's take those skills into the real world.

[ - ] GhostCow 2 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 18:16:41 ago (+2/-0)

Gaming is alive and well in glorious nippon. Stop playing western trash and slav trash.

Japanese gaming reached its prime in the 90's. The 2000's still had good stuff, but it's been downhill since the 90's.

[ - ] GhostCow 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 19, 2022 21:24:49 ago (+0/-0)

Nah there has been plenty of good Japanese stuff in the last 10-20 years.

Hyperdimension Neptunia
Valkyria Chronicles
The whole Soulslike genre
Trials of Mana
Bravely Default
Persona
Shin Megami Tensei
Disgaea
and many more. I could come up with a way longer list than this.

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 19, 2022 22:09:46 ago (+0/-0)

I didn't say there hasn't been any good Japanese stuff in the past 10-20 years. As a matter of fact, I said the opposite. Disgaea is garbage, btw. A perfect example of quantity over quality. The 90's had much better SRPGs.

[ - ] GhostCow 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 19, 2022 22:41:52 ago (+0/-0)*

When you said the 2000s had some good stuff I thought you were referring to 2000-2009. That's what most people mean when they say "the 2000s". 2009 was 13 years ago so I guess I should have just said 13 instead of 10-20

Some of the Disgaea games are garbage, but Disgaea 5 in particular was extremely good. 6 is pretty good too aside from the new 3d art. Also Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children and Fire Emblem Three Houses are both far better than any SRPG from the 90s

If the developers (not executives) of the bought up companies were smart, they would take the buyout money, relax with their buddies for a while, think of new game ideas, and make a new studio.

The way the market looks, the independent studios seems to be the only ones that innovate and cater to the real gamers. Using that buyout cash to make another studio seems like a win-win.

The Hello Games studio is a somewhat roller coaster example, but with buyout money, it would be easier.

Independent companies are one of the good sides, I've noticed community-driven and/or open source games seem to be surprisingly popular too (I'm biased). They might not amass huge audiences, but they sure are dedicated. Cases in point - OpenXcom, Warzone 2100, Space Station 13, Kerbal Space Program and a few others I can't recall off the top of my head. The best part about those is that you don't just play them, but can eventually contribute and learn some coding along the way. Those are some high-entry level games too, not just your run of the mill casual time killers.

[ - ] Bottled_Tears 1 point 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 21:13:02 ago (+1/-0)

They aren't done. They said they plan on buying 3-4 large companies a year. Granted some of them have gotten better but they are definitely becoming a conglomerate.

[ - ] oldblo 1 point 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 17:32:14 ago (+2/-1)

Anti trust laws are absolutely worthless.
Youre asking buddies in the same club to fuck each other over and risk getting suicided for it.

[ - ] Ironcrusader88 1 point 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 14:29:37 ago (+2/-1)

Who the fuck gives a shit about Blizzard anymore? They openly discriminate against White men in their hiring process and intentionally promote leftwing bs in their games too the point they’ll remove aspects within their games like emotes because they’re deemed “problematic”. Not too mention their corporate greed and the sexual abuse scandal that happened recently.

[ - ] GoatsAdvocate 1 point 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 13:54:32 ago (+2/-1)

What monopoly?

I’m all for shitting on that asshole bill gates but uh he isn’t even on their board anymore.

That's what happens when their competition (Sony) has been destroying them in sales ever since xbox came around.

[ - ] ghetto_shitlord 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 19, 2022 10:26:57 ago (+0/-0)

By revenue, even with this deal they aren't even 15% of the gaming market. Mobile companies are raking in 10X what MS will with this deal.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 21:10:27 ago (+0/-0)

Where have you been? This was all tried 20+ years ago.

LOL; Who do you think created MS — Bill Gates?

[ - ] mikenigger 0 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 19:06:02 ago (+0/-0)

I don't really care, if MS fucks it up nothing of value will be lost.

(((federal reserve bank))) is the largest monopoly in the country. Think about it.

Who fucking cares? There's more games than you can shake a stick at besides Call of Duty. I read this as Microsoft blowing $70 billion in shareholder value.

Great, now what are they gonna do? Commit all their code to Github? heh, typical.

[ - ] voater -1 points 2.3 yearsJan 18, 2022 14:12:03 ago (+0/-1)

Even if Microsoft was broken up, it would still be controlled by the same ((finance))) organizations and have the same ESG officers implanting Communist agenda.

Got a link instead of "just trust me bro" and a rant?
