Ahh, I remember AOU crusade against the HDL guys. I'd forgotten that.

How petty that he actually kept track on who interacted with who. That was his algorithm. Lol, as he would say.

I called him a faggot once. Mostly joking.. I wasn't aware of who he was yet. After a while he found a reason to set my account to -200. After doing that a few times and working back to positive I decided it wasn't worth it.

I went to Poal in January of last year, after old Voat was shut down. Some really manipulative things went down there. The entire site acted like a hospitable lifeboat to Voaters. Everyone was acting pleasant, including AOU. This all took a major turn as AOU did an about-face and started showing total disdain for Voaters. It was like a reverse Trojan horse. Of course, we know AOU had his problems with Voat admin initially, so maybe it felt surprising that they were so initially welcoming. Well, that changed quickly. He banned a friend of mine for using @ mentions in his comments (a fucking regular functional part of the site), indicating it was 'wasting site resources'. Completely subjective bullshit whenever he got irked with a particular person.

The last straw for me was when I watched a person (faultless himself, and perfectly reasonable) question whether AOU should have called someone a pedophile. The evidence wasn't there - it really wasn't - and AOU went on a noteworthy mental spiral that culminated with him accusing this person sitewide of being a pedophile. He completely slandered this guy, finally banning him, for asking him a question in what was actually a polite way. The atrocious part was that the ban came because this fella defended himself. AOU basically told him that the facts were settled (i.e. you're a pedo, don't question it), and if you continue to comment in your own defense, you're gone.

His mental health was volatile.

Then there was the actual algo for points manipulation. For users who were flagged, your site score would drop by large increments like a continuous slow-drip. It was obvious this was algorithmic, but when anyone complained about this, AOU and his troupe of ass-kissers would pile on the thread saying things like, "It's just the algo correcting for bot votes." I watched my score, during a period where I wasn't using the site, drop continuously. No activity. No new comments or posts. If what he said was true, you'd necessarily see increases in your score also, which were then corrected for - not a continuous drop.

I probably should have said his algorithm was his fee-fees.
