Should have said that. You know they're very different. Logic is just a reasoning method developed by Aristotle for sorting propositions according to their attributes to arrive at a conclusion. Reason is the faculty we all have for understanding the world around us. The early church fathers spoke and wrote in Greek and were educated in Greek. They had such high regard for reason that it was an essential means for understanding Christ and the scriptures. Reason was so important to them that all educated Roman citizens (who mostly spoke Koine Greek), notably as Marcus Aurelius, thought of it as a force that moves about in all nature. They called it Logos.

This should be familiar if you're aware of the beginning of the book of John. The writer of that book (whoever it was, but it definitely wasn't the apostle John) regarded Jesus as Logos, the prime mover for instilling the faculty of reason in men.

So, I too use reason, Logos, to determine what is true and false. But I regard Jesus as having precedence over reason.

And this precedes any church or church doctrine. So please tell me again how I'm a "protestant".
