You forgot the "biden" and "coexist" t-shirts.

What LIMITS you? Why do SO MANY computer generated humans (NPC's) LOOK so similar? You'd think there would be MORE viriety, instead of just chunking endless characters out of the ONE spiggot.

Yeah! What about some lanky soy boys and obese green haired women, malnourished vegan women with bags under their eyes and 6foot broad shouldered, stubbled trannies?

Wheres the bald fat fuck who never learned how to shave trying to shoot you with a lego a-wing?

Interesting question. Artists all use the same techniques, programs, ect. This model will be used as a 'base model'. Changes like skin tone, body shape, hair will be applied to it to create different variations. In order to have the most variation possible, the base model needs to be pretty generic/bland. You could have multiple base models for a more unique look between NPCs. Limited by money, time and computing power.

What are some of the names of the tools?

It depends on what you want to do but if you're interested in 3d modelling, Blender is the way to go. It's open source and free and supports plugins for doing all kinds of useful things.

add these as a mod for bannerlord

Hmm... does L4D has mods like this?

[ - ] system [op] 0 points 3.4 yearsJan 11, 2022 23:13:12 ago (+0/-0)

Probably. Never really got into L4D my computer was always too shitty. This game will be different though. Kind of like The Sims or Rimworld but in a zombie survival horror environment, and online. Aiming for a Resident Evil 3 vibe for the environment.

Similar to project zomboid?

[ - ] system [op] 1 point 3.4 yearsJan 11, 2022 23:27:14 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah. I started this project before I knew of Project Zomboid. That game has nailed a lot of the ideas I had for this game. Regardless I am still going through with development. Ultimately what it turns into might be completely different. I have a few ways it could go.

You could take a Postal/ Postal 2 twist on it to appeal to a more targeted audience. I'm a big fan of the work "songs of syx" . Here is a vote for skill trees and leveling if it doesn't have it yet.

Another game I haven't played. Postal is like the early GTA games right? Funny you mention that, GTA 2 is another big inspiration for this project. I want it to be a mix between The Sims, Rimworld, Resident Evil 3, GTA 2, Diablo 2. Yes that means leveling and skill trees and loot. This is how I plan to differ from Project Zomboid, less simulation more killing/grinding, but I don't want it to be anywhere near the grind fest the Diablo games are known for. A balance between Project Zomboid and Dead Rising if you will.

yeah gta2 accomplishes exactly what i was getting at with more adult theme/ crude humor. Fitting for a zombie game i would say. Diablo has two key things, skills and Item rarity. Borderlands /fallout had popularity for these features as well. In terms of world setting have you thought of making it procederal map generation like dwar fortress/ songs of syx or will it be a set map?

If you could make it multiplayer client side game host that would be dope.

Both. Originally it was going to be a fixed map. And I thought long and hard about a way to implement player housing. It's going to be a dedicated server (like wow) not hosts (like diabo) and player housing is pretty difficult to implement in these types of games. But I figured out a good solution which involves no instancing and doesn't crowed the game with player's houses. Outside of the fixed map will be a procedurally built world. This will have many kinds of buildings, not just player houses. But you can freely travel between the procedural world and fixed map with no load times. Lots of cool interesting possibilities with this set up. I plan to have the player character start in the fixed map with an end game goal to make it to a specific destination in the procedural world. This means you need a car, fuel and lots of supplies. This will be the game end goal which doesn't actually end the game, but expands it.

I like it.

There is a game called stardew valley and within the static game map there is a mine with a ladder that takes you to a dynamic dungeon level, every ladder another new OC level that progresses with depth. What is unique however is that anytime you take the ladder back up the way you came it will bring you back to the top of the mine, avoiding the boring task of walking back into town.

I haven't come up with a good solution yet for "not having to walk all the way back". GTA online allows you to take a cab, and you sit there and wait. Teleportation breaks immersion but is probably worth it. Maybe allow it for a cost or something.

Postal is FPS with zero filters.

You can kill gay nigger midgets and sodomise cats with a shotgun.
