It's as if you people are too young to remember when you would get good portioned food. Now a days everything is smaller portions for more money. You make fun of the lady because she's fat but forget that the business is fucking everyone over. Customer is always right? Not anymore. Customer takes it up the ass from the corporation and then gets put on youtube when she stands up for herself.
Noo! If a company sells meals that are enough for one person and doesn't cheap out on the meat and cheese then they're responsible for making people fat! You're going to get shamed by all of voat for saying that perhaps a single portion should be filling and contain a pleasant amount of non-filler ingredients.
If you were in business for yourself you would realize the number 1 rule is: The customer is usually wrong.
How you explain to them that they are wrong and how you remedy the problem is what makes your business good or bad. In my business the customers are almost never right. Repeat customers know to just let me handle their problem. If I get a new customer that insists they are right, despite me trying to explain what is really going on, I will tell them to get somebody else. I even provide them the names and phone numbers of my competitors.
Now, back to portion sizes. Before it was the norm to be a fat, disgusting, hideous beast in the US; portion sizes were "normal". In the 1990s companies realized that if they increased the size of the portions they could charge more and be more profitable without the customers catching on. Now that the economy is collapsing we are experiencing the opposite — shrinkflation. People are willing to pay only so much for an item, so the companies are cutting back on the portion size because they still have to make a profit to stay in business.
Some of it comes from above. A place I went regularly one day had far smaller french fry portions. They said there was stricter enforcement of posted calorie contents matching what's given. I imagine that there are some kind of fines or penalties for offering larger portions (with higher calorie counts listed to properly reflect their content).
10 years ago I'd still occasionally use the fast food coupons I got in the mail. McDonalds was apparently trying to go the 'have it your way' route of Burger King. I was like yea right, they can't even get normal orders right, imagine totally custom sandwiches all day. Taco Bell started charging extra for tomatoes and lettuce. Everything is jewed and disgusting at this point.
