But it wasn't a guaranteed thing that if a prominent politician spoke to the public that he/she would get shot. Nowadays it wouldn't matter if we literally elected Jesus, someone would shoot him. Are the people in our society morally deficient compared to the past or has the government grown too big to represent the people or is it something else?
The politicians are more hated because they're nothing but greedy, self interested opportunists. It wasn't always like that. Today every single one of them is better used as food for a grizzly bear than as a public servant. They really and truly do not serve the public. They try to control, they lecture and harangue the public and think the public is there to serve them.
