I love this song. It’s so hard to look at music the same way I used to, but I still love this song. “So please don’t ask me why I love you” is delivered chef kiss style.

Totally get what you mean. Circumstances change, people change. Every creative work, to lesser and greater degrees, is a period piece, by virtue of it having occurred within a specific time and cultural context.

I completely missed punk as a child. I was born too late.

When I tuned into the genre much later in life this was one of the songs that really hooked me, at a time in my life where it was exactly what I needed to hear.

Anyway, thanks for being willing to share. I love this song too!

Wow. I have an almost verbatim experience with punk! Didn’t start listening to it till I was 21, and ‘Trash’ was one of my first punk songs that got me hooked. So did ‘Search and Destroy’ by Iggy Pop. I started with the 70’s punk first, then got into hardcore a couple years later. I was more of a “grunge/alternative” girl in my teenage years in the 90’s, but remember seeing punk people back in the 80’s when I was a tyke and thought they were cool. Now I think punks are tards, except maybe John Lydon—that guy always knew what was going on. I love PIL.
