That plate is definitely made out of a high quality modern alloy. Even modern mild steel is superior to most of the old steels they made arms out of.

I watched that video, can't remember the name of the video. But they took someone who was an expert at making the armor the traditional way as it was time period correct iirc. Same with the arrows.

I’d be interested in seeing how that armor stood up against aluminum arrows fired from a modern compound bow.

A classic ballista has a slower delivery speed than a modern compound bow, so the depleted uranium bolts would likely dent the shit out the armor and knock it back quite a ways, but I'm not sure they would penetrate it. IIRC depleted uranium, despite its weight and density, isn't terribly hard. But it would be cool to see.

So it's quite accepted that longbows allowed penetration of armour. What's wrong in this video, not enough bow?
