The small part of me that's watched too much sci-fi wonders if the people who made covid had "extra" help. There certainly are a lot of little surprises in that S1 spike protein.

To me, just sounds like a slip of the tongue. Saying kildren (children) but corrected himself after pronouncing the kil part. The context of the rest of the sentence makes sense if he is just saying children.
