If God directly intervened like that it would prove the existance of God which at the same time would destroy free will. If everyone knew for a fact God exists we would always do exactly as He says and then what would the point of humanity be?

God can do anything. God can heal amputees, but that is not part of his plan.

Asking why God does not heal amputees is like asking why a parent allows their child to struggle on their homework. How can a loving parent sit there and watch a child struggle painfully over simple homework questions? The answer is that it is part of the plan to turn that child into a competent adult. That does not mean that every child struggles with the same questions. It does not mean that the child understands why they have to struggle.

In the same way that child does not understand how learning to learn by struggling on homework helps them, we do not understand much of God's plan.

You might ask, if amputees learning to overcome their disabilities is a part of God's plan, why aren't we all amputees?

My first answer is that compared to God who created the Heavens, the Earth, and all of us creatures on the Earth in the way described in the first 2 chapters Genesis, we are all disabled. There is little difference in a person with no legs and a marathon runner when we compare them to God. Neither of them can even create a handful of dirt from nothing, much less an entire universe.

My second answer is that God does not let everyone into Heaven, so he needs a way to test us. I believe we live in a God-created multiverse / simulation. God resets an almost infinite number of universes constantly to test every one of us in every situation possible. In this reality I lost my fight against pedophile cops. In another universe I might have been crippled as a child. In another universe I might have been raised by pedophile cops to be one of them. In another universe I might have lived without ever encountering a pedophile cop.
