A 100K mile Model S is worth about $30K. I certianly wouldn't burn it down. It's worth at least $10K even if the battery pack is dead.

10k used and abused, going to last maybe a year. Add this to all the normal costs for a car and you have an overpriced hunk of metal.

I wonder what you can work on with this car without having to buy their “special tools”. Can a regular guy like me even change my tires, brakes, oil, batteries without running into manufactured hurdles and roadblocks?
