I do not believe Jesus is God, and I don't see any evidence in the Bible that he ever suggested such a thing. There is no basis for a triune godhead in scripture. There was a controversy in the 3rd century between Arius and Athanasius that brought this concept to a head. The early church was trying to establish orthodoxy in its doctrine, with varying degrees of success due to the decentralized nature of the church. Authority for doctrine was determined by various bishops, and doctrine was reached by consensus in each diocese (or whatever they were called before that term was used).

Some congregations leaned toward the triune god, and others professed faith in God the father and his son Jesus. It was the latter that Arius believed, and started a long, nasty feud with Athanasius, who was a trinitarian. In time, the trinitarians won out, and codified this in doctrine in the form of the Apostle's Creed.

For myself, I find the concept of a three-in-one godhead confusing and unscriptural. I believe Jesus was a god, but not the God.

However, I don't care about what other people believe. Doctrine is irrelevant and is often a point of division between Christians, who should focus on just the important things Jesus taught, such as to love God, love one another, live to please God, and understand the importance of Jesus's sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins as our redeemer. If it helps someone to see God and Jesus as two parts of a trinity, then good for them.

Now, I should also say that I'm tend to view scripture as an "originalist", that is, I tend to favor the "first Bible", the one compiled and edited by Marcion of Synope. I think I posted about him not long ago. He was reviled as a heretic and buried in history, only recently becoming better known due to recent scholarship. I don't believe in "heresy". I leave that to those who try to enforce doctrine and orthodoxy.

If you reduced your posting their would still be plenty of content on the site, right now none of that content is seen due to you sliding the board.

Lurkers can read discussion too, no account needed. Consider cutting your posting in half so that others can have their content seen.

I have folders with all my Original Voat posts and yet you don't see me spending weeks on end sliding the board. While the contributions are appreciated and so is the content, its the quantity that is in the way of the site allowing more posters to be seen.
