Is it okay to make an example out of someone?

Remember this goes both ways. I think this a very interesting question, A difficult question when you consider it applies to all sides.

If judges can make an example out of you, then equality demands the reverse holds true as well.

Yes. It's an act of mercy when you take into account the butterfly effect.

If you intend to publicly humiliate someone, don't.This may backfire;making you out to be the assclown.

It's an odd question. "Is it okay" with whom? Certainly not with the person you make an example out of. To the target audience you're trying to affect, I don't think they matter. To God? To your own sense of justice?

I, personally, think it's a good teaching too. I used to think it could be taken to extremes, but my position on that is starting to soften. I'm less interested in justice these days.

By "make an example out of someone," I presume you mean to excessively punish someone as a warning to other potential violators. This conflicts with the notion of fairness and is some Communist "for the greater good" ideology. Weak-minded, wannabe tyrants tend to relish this line of reasoning.

Besides, consistent and fair punishment promotes a healthier society far more than the "improvement" of making examples to please mob rule.

Typically the example is made to demonstrate what will happen consistently, not the exception. It’s literally to show the future potential violators what will happen. If anything, there’s will probably be worse.

Stop applying the same standards to everybody.

The identity of the people involved in your decision making matters.

Also, you must match the aggression of your enemy, at the very least, you must to unto them as they would do unto you, and you can judge whether to go beyond that and escalate at your own leisure.

But stop with this one rule for all bullshit, it's exactly why we lose so often.

Focus on what works for the purposes of accomplishing your goals, not sacrificing your ability to make good decisions on the altar of some lofty principles that your opposition doesn't give a fuck about, and only retards would see as something worth admiring or emulating.

You are a poor leader, and need to grow the fuck up, stop being so suicidally honorable and naieve, this isn't sone cartoon or video game, this is reality, abd that stale shit doesn't fly here.

Your question makes no sense to begin with.
Define okay... What does that even mean in the first place?

Are you asking if it’s morally correct? Societally acceptable?

You want deep thoughts, put some thought into how you phrase your question.

So you ask a silly question, then pretentiously remind every that it goes both ways Then go into how awesome of a question it really is.

I was super stoned and being that I'm not a pot smoker in my mind at the time I thought I was asking a deep profound thought provoking interesting unique hard well thought out question.

I doubt you can see all of things that could come back on you.

It has been in play for a long time. I recall the mention of Old West 'Hanging Judges', and according to Wikipedia, America had no monopoly on this:
