PTSD. With the way america is now police are effectively patrolling a combat zone, albeit one with lower frequency of violence than Iraq or somewhere. They're also constantly having to watch their back in case their masters decide to screw them over or sacrifice them to the woke mob.

Not saying it excuses their actions but I can definitely see why it would cause mental issues over time.
