Woman goes out nightclubbing, "only" has 8 drinks (4 is considered binge drinking btw). Throws up everywhere, blacks out and winds up in hospital. Days later she finds a bruise on her leg and concludes "I was spiked."
How the hell could you inject someone against their will in a nightclub and not have them notice until days later?
Says who, of what and in what quantities? Four cans of weak beer isn't shit, but if your "four drinks" are 20% alcohol content, a full pint each and you aren't just nursing them through the night then that's understandable.
Edit: Other than that this seems like a setup to start giving drug users a shitty legal defense to get out of paying for their crimes.
Irish health service. A standard drink is larger than a can but I forget how much. I think a measure of spirits (so a shot or a typical cocktail) counts as one.
The other thing is that alcohol can be unpredictable, you never know how it'll hit you. You can drink the same amount every week for years, then one night it can hit you extra hard and you end up throwing up everywhere and passing out.

Pretty much. No prosecutor would dream of going after a drugs case if the suspect is a woman and claims she was spiked. Also it's an easy out if she's being accused of drinking too much.
Right. Or they were taking drugs and needed to explain how they ended up testing positive. "I got stabbed by a needle" is a new one though, and ridiculously unbelievable. If someone stabbed me with a needle I wouldn't wait almost a week to mention it.
