The concept of tomboys has always been a staple of European culture, especially Norse culture. The best example of course would be the Valkyries.
Their desirability today makes sense once you understand that the concepts of modern masculinity have been perverted to mean basic self preservation, which is also why femininity today looks so self destructive.

I noticed that too, they looked to be going for this 80s/90s aesthetic, but they make a point to portray white men as non-masculine, bumbling idiots, and black men as masculine, cool and collected. They have a T-Rex storming around a drive-in theater but take a break to shovel 2 racemixed couples in your face instead of just focusing on the fucking dinosaur. And in the first shot there's a white cuck right next to the couple, more subliminal messaging that white men are pathetic.
