It's because the economy dictated it. Hyperinflation would have happened in US dollar-denominated nations (opec nations) lock downs reduce money velocity, which slows inflation pace. Our dollar has never been printed so quickly look at the m1 chart (total dollars printed) and compare it to m2 velocity. 10000% implemented ON WARP SPEED to combat inflation.

With that said, bottlenecking in supply chains from labor shortages (tied to vax status) has caused short term inflation (3-5 years), but slowing money velocity is the LAST lever the central bankers have. literally the last. After this the dollar collapses. Lockdowns will be normalized for decades to come.
