Just guessing that he’s is referring to the fact that W. Africans/Bantus are the result of a mix of pygmoid type africans and a non-homo sapien group generally known as “african ghost population”, which is inferred to have existed by genome studies, as well as some additional ancestry from other african groups and eurasian “back to africa” migrations.

The african ghost population is maybe around 7 or 8 percent of W. African ancestry and is predicted to have diverged from common human ancestry before neanderthal. They have never found a fossil.
