I've had this design I my mind for a while now and watching this just gave me a project to work on. I'm wondering if the barrel is rifled or smooth bore...in close quarters that bullet wouldn't need rifling.

This is correct it is in fact classified as an "any other weapon" the tax stamp is indeed five dollars. The same tax stamp would be used for items such as gun canes, belt buckles,or any other odd do dad of a firearm.
