I went there today out of curiosity after having sworn the place off due to getting into an argument with a mod over language. To my surprise I saw this when I downloaded a thread. It's now Reddit 2.0

I started going there before original Voat went away. Always engaging in alternative platforms is how I found Voat in the first place, and some other places. It's a good idea.

I couldn't believe the "no downvotes rule" as downvoting is just a proven part of free speech forums, and actually quite the useful tool to fight bots and agents. There are those of us who would actually browse New and fight retardation.

I explained to whatever his name is that runs the place there, that, basically, their downvote rules overtly encourage upvote brigades and prevent any effective response to it. I also explained that old Voats downvote rules were basically perfect, because it required you to upvote just as much. They didn't argue with me, the just ignored me.

I'll admit Poal didn't go full retard as quickly as I had expected, but it's finally getting there. I just think of it as the slowest forum slide in the history of the internet.

I wouldn't call it Reddit 2.0 though...more like TheDonald 2.0 in that all the same controls are in place as Reddit, it's just meant to seem like the opposition to it...controlled opposition though, obviously.

I almost never downvoat, either here nor when I was at poal. Forum drama is gay. Most of the users at poal are okay, apart from perhaps Anticlutch, but AOU is a major problem. Him attacking me (for a reason I still don't know) was just another thing that made my year even more shitty than it was already.

Poal has a very nice UI, one of the best I've used. The admins (or admin, as it is now) on the other hand...
