Far as I know the holiday is an old one that was commercialized. No one knows about tall and skinny Santa.
Regardless of its origins it is the holiday of countless people. It is their tradition because they made it so.

Since it was recognized as a white holiday it was shit on because of that for the sake of social conditioning.
Even if it wasnt "our" holiday there is still plenty of reason to be sick and tired of what is going on.
