I notice it says MERS-CoV test. That makes sense. MERS is Middle Easter Respiratory Syndrome. MERS is the Middle East originated equivalent to SARS, another Corona virus. So these tests in the best case measure any SARS/MERS/CoV case, if not also influenza as well. But assuming the best case..

What if they pre-released an even less harmful corona virus into the global population months or years ahead of schedule, and we've all been passing it around symptom free. And then when they release the CoV19 and do testing it looks like its spreading like wildfire because of all of the positive tests.
