I find most punk to be garbage, but this was pretty good. I remember this name from being a teenager.

This whole album is really approachable.

It's a little more refined than traditional punk, which I characterize as usually exhibiting 2 or more of the following qualities:

4 chords
Somewhat indecipherable lyrics
Low production value, often distorted
2-3 minutes per song, tops.

It's got this almost kind of surf-vibe that I think really works for the material.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond. It's kind of fun for me that I happen to come across something that agrees with you now and again :)

Punk is a weird thing for me. I was a long haired metal head in the early-mid eighties. Never got into punk at all. Way later in life I delved into a tiny bit of it from having younger siblings who are into it. Have you ever listed to D.I.? I like them. Also, ST, but their more metal/skate punk I guess. I have some old MDC stufff as well.

Edit: Dr. Know?

If you like DI then check out TSOL and The Adolescents. Even better, get the torrent of The Vandals first two albums Peace and Rome.

I was actually planning on posting some Vandals soon. Great suggestion :)

Escalante went out of his way to memory hole the original band.

Never heard of DI before. Thanks for the suggestion :)

By ST, you mean Suicidal Tendencies? I posted War Inside My Head to /v/music a while back. I was hesitant to post it to /v/punk as I wasn't certain it was the best fit, even though it bears some of the hallmarks of punk I listed above.

I'm familiar with MDC. Was considering posting "John Wayne Was a Nazi" a while back. Even though it was meant to slander The Duke, the idea of him carrying a picture of Adolph the boy under his cowboy vest makes me like him all the more :)

It has a surf vibe because guitarist Mike Palm, and many other punk guitarist, replicated Dick Dale. Del Tones heavily influenced west coast punk.
Several Agent players wound up touring for Dale.

It sounded so decent, I feel like it cannot be considered punk.
