That's not a hero.

That's a murder victim.

A hero spends years sacrificing to help others.

[ - ] oldblo 2 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 21:17:40 ago (+2/-0)

A hero is one who acts. It doesnt take years.
A second can decide if the day is a tragedy or not. The deciding factor being a persons action.
Otherwise agreed. No one is a hero by playing Russian Roulette to prevent the flu.

If she wanted it she got all she deserves.

If she was forced and blackmailed into it, well the will get many of us.

Like those signs in front of hospitals, veterinary clinics, and old folks homes, "Heroes Work Here." KEK

Allowing yourself to be used as a guinea pig. So heroic.

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper 3 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 14:05:24 ago (+3/-0)

It has been for a long time now...the same with "trust me" and "I'm sorry".

[ - ] con77 3 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 13:35:45 ago (+3/-0)

It has been since the first gulf war. This is a ridiculous abuse of the word.

They called the men who firebombed Dresden heroes.

[ - ] thebearfromstartrack4 2 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 17:03:19 ago (+2/-0)

[ - ] coldsoak 2 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 16:47:38 ago (+2/-0)

Hero and sucker used to have different meanings.

[ - ] Xigbar68 1 point 2.4 yearsNov 27, 2021 23:09:16 ago (+1/-0)

an hero moment?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 1 point 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 13:49:32 ago (+1/-0)

It's a relative term anyway.

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 17:01:32 ago (+0/-0)*

Is your family heroes?

[ - ] oldblo 1 point 2.5 yearsNov 27, 2021 21:19:30 ago (+1/-0)

Some would say we are all heros in our own way.
Others would say all women are born heros.
I say they are liars that should be ashamed of themselves.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 07:22:44 ago (+0/-0)

My father was my hero. When I was five or six he found me floating face down in the family pool. He recussitated me. Does that fit your definition?

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 12:52:59 ago (+0/-0)

Well, I was trying to make a joke about your use of the word "relative", but that would fit my definition of hero. In the strictest sense the term usually involves some risk to themselves and in your case your father had no risk, assuming he can swim.

How did the event affect you? And your relationship with your father? Have you felt destined for something bigger having been saved that day?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 13:44:55 ago (+0/-0)

I have this odd feeling that the previous me died and another soul took their place. I'll get into more when I get done with work if you're curious.

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 20:54:39 ago (+0/-0)

Very, very curious.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 21:47:04 ago (+0/-0)

Ok, so this is going to sound out of place but stay with me here. I was named after my uncle. He died when he was 13, in 1969. I was born a little more than 30 years later. Like I said, the drowning incident happened when I was very young. It's worth noting that I was adopted at birth, and it's also worth noting that my adoptive parents were the same ethnicity and religion that my biological parents were. I don't have any memories from before that time. After that I was told my whole life that I have the same unique personality that my uncle had. It's hard to explain, but apparently we both had a certain way with animals. Like, I literally make friends with wildlife. It sounds stupid, fake and gay, all that but there's a real connection. So get to the point, right? I feel like that whatever soul was in my body is somewhere else and the soul of my adoptive mother's brother is the one I'm driving. It's strange. Take it for what it is.

Edit: Oh and the Uncle I was named for drowned to death. He was found stuck to the drain of a hotel pool.

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 22:07:08 ago (+0/-0)

Holy shit. You have no memory of anything before the drowning incident? Is the uncle of your biological family or adoptive?

The soul drives, so the boy died and you jumped in. There have been studies of reincarnation. You should look into that. Fascinating.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 22:22:23 ago (+0/-0)

Uncle was biological, I was adopted. It's just something strange I think about. It's not something I care to have studied or any in depth conversations about. People think I'm spinning yarn anyway. I really don't consider it something to share about these days, but it was the anniversary of my uncle's birthday recently so it's been on my mind a little. I do remember falling down a spiral hole into nothingness. So there's that.

[ - ] SparklingWiggle 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 22:27:35 ago (+0/-0)

Just so I am clear, he was your bio uncle. So you know your bio parents? Did you know the story before or after the drowning incident?

[ - ] Her0n 0 points 2.4 yearsNov 28, 2021 01:02:31 ago (+0/-0)
