Absolutely correct. Not figuratively or metaphorically a jew. From the wikijewdia:

Whenever you find a socialist (as were both Woody and Arlo), there's always a jew somewhere in the background. jews were a huge factor in the folk music scene in the 50s and 60s, which I suppose is why most folk music, both then and now, has a significant leftist bent.
