Stone and Parker lost my interest years ago. They don't know how to just write a cartoon show. They've always taken topical issues, but they weren't as strident about it. And their episode where they seemed to apologize to Al Gore for making fun of him and his "ManBearPig", well, I just stopped watching after that. I just got too "super serial".

I'm not sure they were actually taking it cereal. It's about how every few years manbearpig comes back to scare everyone and you just gotta make a deal for it to go away. They didnt all change to wind energy and solar to make it go away, they had to give up video games. And Gore still comes off as a fag in that episode.
