If the occident (west) is referring to more Jew shit as the centre of your world, then why has it always been considered in the middle east?
The white ancient Greek democratic city-states vs the Arab Persians Islamic Caliphate, the battles of Thermopylae, Marathon and a series of Greco-Persian Wars did indeed create the concept of East vs West and where we draw the lines even today.
Turkey is not considered Western European. Look up what countries belong to the near east and you'll understand Jerusalem does not belong to the western hemisphere. Not even 'west' bank.
Who would ordinarily claim Jerusalem is in the western hemisphere? And who has done that in this thread? I mean, really?!
The reference to Jerusalem is not to Jerusalem itself but to the West being to the west of it geographically. The land of Japheth.
Turkey of course has plenty of Roman history given its strong Greek heritage among other things. Anatolia was part of the Byzantine Empire. It's never been part of Western Europe. But it was the center of a Greek speaking empire, Byzantium, so apparently you would have seen it as Western before. I wouldn't as another fault line is the Great Schism - but in any case you are wrong in your contention anyway. Or if you think you are correct you need to do better than Foo and provide a source. Western Civilization is of course sometimes said to have begun in Greece. Or against Persia. But that is not where the idea of the West rests. In that case the concept is just being traced back before the origins of the concept.

The West as in Western Civilization is a reference to west of Jerusalem.
Wrong, West bank, west jerusalem, east jerusalem, doesnt matter, its the ME.
Thats like arguing that Southern Beijing is the southern hemisphere. Its far east.
Turkey of course has plenty of Roman history given its strong Greek heritage among other things
Turkey didn't always sit where it does now on the Bosphorous. It has plenty of Roman and Greek history because it was invaded by Europeans, not because it Western European.
Western Civilization is of course sometimes said to have begun in Greece. Or against Persia. But that is not where the idea of the West rests.
The Near East, Middle East and Far East are not in the Western Hemisphere, not now, not ever.
The clue is in the name 'East'.
But that is not where the idea of the West rests.
West means west, east means east. The line has been drawn however arbitrarily and has remained constant for thousands of fo years.
Jerusalem is never going to be apart of the West, nor any of its immediate neighbours.
nah, "West" was defined by the Battle of Thermopylae it was the point by which the Persian empire could no longer extend it's influence.
Every culture which was not absorbed was "West" of Persia.
To think this has anything to do with Jerusalem is idiotic. Jerusalem was a laughing stock of the great civilizations. It was the place where the empires got their hook nosed slaves.
Alexander the Great didn't even bother looting it as he passed through. It's barely even mentioned in the campaign histories.
You know, it's an interesting point you make. There should be sources about Jerusalem from outside cultures. Because it's SO IMPORTANT that they made it the center of the world. Right?
Yet... None of the great works mentions Jerusalem. Unless it's about Alexander snubbing it.
If anything, Tyre was the diamond. Alexander took Jerusalem at the same time. Yet, nobody talks about Jersualem. Everyone talks about Tyre and its strategic importance and it's wealth.
So, no, you don't get sources because historians don't write about shit-holes. That's not my fault. Blame the shit-head jews who lived there.
You're right that Jerusalem was pretty inconsequential as a power center in the ancient world. But that isn't the point. It was emblematic of Christianity. Were a bunch of Odinists in Denmark going to choose it as a landmark? Obviously not.
YOU WON'T FIND SOURCES FOR PLACES HISTORIANS DON'T WRITE ABOUT.
If Anything, you just need to look up the meaning of "occident", and then look up the meaning of it's ANTONYM "orient" and realize that Jerusalem isn't in the "occident", Jerusalem is in the "orient".
And these terms are older than Christiantiy. So, what do you want exactly? All you have are Christ-Cucks attributing more importance to a leper colony than it deserves.
Occident and Orient refer to the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Latin occidens, or setting, West. And Latin oriens or rising, East. But Christianity has long used Latin of course.
This nonsense about places that no one writes about can perhaps be made up for by you by citing a source that these Latin terms were used before Christianity. Jerusalem doesn't have to be IN the Occident for the West to be west of it geographically.
Yeah, the Romans just decided this backwater leper colony was the center of the world and declared everything east of it referred to the "orient" and everything west of it referred to the "occident".
I can see how that explanation makes sense to a Christ-Cuck. But it doesn't make sense to anyone else.
The only reason you got this in your head is because a jew wanted you to think jews are more important than they really are. But, even you admit, you open up a history book, and nobody is talking about them.
The Romans became Christians. It would be unsurprising that Jerusalem assumed new importance to them once they did. But I'm not sure it was the Romans. Probably the Catholic Church if I had to guess.
And traditionally Jerusalem is considered one of the touchstones of the West. Along with Rome and Athens. This is a more Catholic view of the matter. Protestants sometimes differ and others would include the forests of Germania.
Just wanna note that my source in the OP comes from a Duke University professor with an Italian surname. Duke being one of our most prestigious universities.
