Nah we’re quite accepting of the diaspora, that’s kinda why we give them abuse and tell them they’re not Irish to wind them up. It’s like the way it is among friends really, if you’re not getting abuse over something among friends then you know they must feel awkward about it or they don’t really accept you (how it works here anyway). Likewise with the diaspora, if we didn’t give them abuse about where they come from then we wouldn’t be accepting them as our own, cos we give each other dogs abuse about what county/town/townland people come from here.

Yeah, when I gained a lot of weight all my friends made fun of me, and it was the right thing to do. I knew I got fat, and I felt bad about it. Whenever somebody I hadn't seen in a while would not point out the fact that I got fatter, I'd feel bad. The reason being that I know that they knew that I got fatter, but they wouldn't mention it. If they'd mention it, then it would've gotten out of the way, if you know what I mean.

And not just by a bit, it’s something like 20 times more people claiming Irish ancestry outside Ireland than in Ireland itself. A lot of countries allow their overseas citizens vote in their elections and so it gets suggested here every few years too. But since anyone with an Irish grandparent can claim Irish citizenship if we allowed something similar we would effectively be ruled by the whims of people in Boston, Sydney and London, many of whom may never have even set foot on Irish soil.

Culture isn't genetic. Culture is communal life with others. It is a social contract. Someone who embodies that social contract vs someone who doesn't is "more X" than them. That being said, genetics do play a part in homogeny and parity. Immigrants who adapt and embrace the culture can become part of that culture to a point. They will never have the underlying early upbringing nuance a true native will. Just like someone ethnically tied wouldn't that wasn't raised in the culture.

The problem is that ethic and national identities are being deliberately conflated (see civic nationalism) by globalists to purposely destroy people's connection to their heritage. If your parents were primarily ethnically Irish (and theirs also were, so on and so forth) and you still observe some of the primary cultural customs, you're still ethnically Irish even if you're not an Irish national. Being diaspora, you might be a newer branch on the Irish tree, but you're still on the tree. If the idiot in the comic was smart, he'd cultivate this kind of thinking instead of shutting it down. The English did at one point, which is why there's Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, etc--- they allowed their new branches to grow into their own and spread a fundamentally Anglo-culture everywhere. If the Irish and Scots were smart at all, they'd leverage their diaspora to 're-connect with their roots' deliberately.

Furthermore, I doubt you'd find an Irishman that didn't have English DNA, or an Englishman without Dutch DNA, or a Dane without Swede or a German without Dane and so-on. Euro pissing about Americans being euro-descended mutts is just pointless distraction and noise. Whatever your primary ethnic cord is, strike it and leverage it to your advantage.
