Charges can only be dismissed by the judge or the prosecutor.
The jury found Kyle "not guilty" which is above and beyond being dismissed. The trial concluded with the jury verdict.
If the charges were dismissed, the jury verdict would not have been read.
Just to give you the technical details.
(Not your post, but related) Also Kyle was out on bail, not bond, which means that he gets that money back.
Bond is typically put up by a 3rd party, with a non-refundable percentage paid by the defendant. The bonding company then gets the bond back at the end.
So anyone who donated to Kyle's fund for bail just enriched the lawyers and Kyle - not a bad outcome considering, but still important to note.
For the kind of civil suit Kyle wants, he needs to find the most expensive lawyer he can find, and pay on contingency only. I'm sure the defense has already salivated at the $2mil or whatever the bail was set at.
Defense lawyers have very little skin in the game, because they get paid no matter what, and in a loss only the client actually loses.
Here Kyle needs to go with a big name lawyer that will take 60% of the winnings, but will terrify anyone and everyone they send a letter to. Contingency lawyers fight tooth and nail to win because they only get paid if they do win.
