Earth's photosynthetic engine is probably about 1e14 watts (about 100 terrawats but we don't really know 3 significant digits). Humans use about 15 terrawats. Plants range from about 1% to about 4% photosynthetic efficiency. The earth as a whole might have a photosynthetic efficiency of 0.5%. The carbon sequestration of this engine is still many times higher than that produced by man. They say it will take decades to reduce excess carbon. No it won't. Plants will step up. Photosynthetic efficiency is improved with more C02.
