The DoD became very image conscious during the rise of television and movies as mainstream entertainment back in the day (hence why the re-branded from being the Department of War), I thought everyone already knew that when film makers enlisted the DOD's technical expertise (or equipment) that they would only allow a very strict/narrow perspective to be presented regarding the activities of the American military. If you don't play ball with their criteria, they won't allow you access to anything.

Literally every American military movie I can think of has had the Pentagon signing off on it. Particularly naval and aerospace films due to the extremely high profile equipment they use (and their associated popularity with the public). No body is waltzing on to an aircraft carrier (or any named vessel) without a chain of military bureaucrats having their fingers in it to carefully tailor the image and narrative.

DoD are shitbags for sure, moreso because they let (((child fucking rapists))) subvert America from within while they sit on their asses and let it happen, while canning their own officers who speak up about it. But the film/tv propaganda thing is not that surprising.

Independence day was a curious case. They were offered funding and support but it came with the condition of dropping the area 51 portion of the plot. They declined DOD support.

The site wouldn't load for me, the original ZeroHedge article got 404'd, newsits and two other sites were similar.

I found a .pdf of movies from 2016 with direct funding by DOD however approx 380, as it might be an older list missing the last 5 years.
