I really love those old sears catalog house plans. I wish houses could look like those houses again.

Wasn't Sear targeted by one of those venture capital groups that acquires companies and then strips them of their assets, running them into the ground in the process?

The story could have gone the other way, of course. A smart, new management team could have turned the company around and made it a gleaming retail giant once again. Though frankly given the huge problems the company had even as early as the 70s that was pretty unlikely.

No, Sears was a zombie company for many years before the inevitable finally happened.

Oddly, had their catalog sales not been sold off and dismantled, it could have been a leaping off point for internet sales that would have easily rivaled Amazon.

Yup. They didn't invest. Sears catalog Christmas Shopping was the equivalent of Amazon today.

Good point. How ironic that the Sears Catalogue was once the gold standard for doing your shopping from home. On-line sales is basically the same business model.

It was such a bad move, I've wondered if it wasn't intentional sabotage. Amazon started as an online bookseller, iirc.

Apparently it was intentional. There's a couple of replies to my comment that have more details if you're interested.

Worse than that a kike took it over and personally robbed it while pretending to help the brand

There's a business idea I should put some thought into.

I wish they didn't get all corrupt and start USING their OLD reputation to rip people off with stupid schemes and stuff. ESPECIALLY the geezers (their chosen victims mostly).
