Most oppressive tyranny

submitted by TOVA to CovidWorldOrder 2.5 yearsNov 9, 2021 06:31:48 ago (+20/-1)     (CovidWorldOrder)

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

did not know "cupidity", I know as avarice. Thanks for the new word.

It is a mistake to think that these busybodies act out of a misguided sense of benevolence.

What drives them is not a genuine desire to do good.

They are zealots. As with any other zealots, they will claim to be righteous, but what really drives them is blind obedience to their dogma, fueled by the rush of having power over others. They never stop to question or consider whether what they are doing is actually good, let alone whether it produces good results. The thought never enters their mind. It feels good. That is all that matters. Anything beyond that is just rationalization.

This is not misguided benevolence. It is simply evil.

We more or less have that but it isnt sincere at all. Merely portraying itself as so for greater cooperation.
