Upset Stomach & Out of Tums?

submitted by Cynabuns to NaturalRemedies 2.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 23:43:31 ago (+6/-0)     (NaturalRemedies)

Look to your kitchen cabinet instead of the medicine cabinet. Baking soda works great as an antacid. The Arm & Hammer box says 1/2 tsp baking soda per 1/2 cup of water mixed until fully dissolved, check the box or their site for more info. I've personally used this recipe for ages and find that it works better than a Tums.

Feel free to share your homemade remedy for an upset stomach in the comments.

Turmeric tea and deglyccerated licorice chewables do wonders for heartburn. Ive gone from daily to near non-existent and I dont even take them on a regular basis anymore. Acv is really beneficial too.

Ginger tea and Peppermint tea are also great for soothing the tummy.

Baking soda method would seem more prevalent in most residences.

Baking soda is an antacid, ginger appears to help with nausea. So it really depends on what's causing the stomach upset.

Apple cider vinegar works wonders for any heartburn I ever have. Dilute a tsp in a glass of water.

ACV is great for lots of things but isn't heartburn caused by when either your stomach becomes too acidic or your stomach acid starts coming up your esophagus?

How would adding more acid into the mix help that?

I'm wondering if the water + placebo is helping more in your case?

Alka-Seltzer is basically bicarb and aspirin with enough citric acid to react with excess bicarb to make the fizz. Good for hangovers. Modern antacids may contain Calcium carbonate (chalk dust), or a similar aluminum or magnesium compound, the last two of which are to be avoided.

Tums are sodium bicarbonate aka baking soda. "Extra strength" Tums are something entirely different and ruin your gut bacteria. Also...anything "sugar free" contains aspartame which wreaks havoc on your gut bacteria. Don't buy it.

Stinging nettle tea made from the leaves roots and stems of the plant. A simple Internet search will reveal many different recipes, but it’s very effective against upset stomach. Are used to have stomach ulcers that no medicine could get rid of but a week of a cup a day did. The tea worked for my wife’s morning sickness as well
