Soft crunching accompanies every step you take as you traverse the freezer burnt floor. Deafening silence is the only alternative to your shivering and footfalls as you search this deserted store for any other signs of life. You find a set of tire tracks, as if someone drove a car through this frozen grocery store shortly before you arrived! You decide a direction and follow the tracks for hours, maybe days? It’s hard to recall how long you’ve been here. No sun to set your circadian rhythm and your phone died hours ago searching for signal. After plodding along the trail long after your toes have gone numb you reach this end of the tracks. The tracks lead you to a fully stocked dairy and frozen food section and nothing more. You look around for other signs of humans; some missing food, footprints, but nothing is altered at all, shelves fully stocked. After letting out a long sign you resign yourself to the realization that at best you picked the wrong direction and it’ll be hours before you get back to your starting point. If only your tracks hadn’t disappeared already…
