I’ve been watching for this. There is no need to buy from China if you pay attention. I order a lot of shit online, as the nearest oriental market is two counties away. Sometimes I go there, for bomb ass Kim-chee.

Vietnam is suspect too, China was running stuff through them for tariffed goods. Still better than China tho

Let me add if I will, that it’s kinda nice using correctly procured oriental ingredients, such as dried seaweed, mushrooms, wood ear, etc, because they aren’t kosher. There isn’t one of the hundreds of kosher stamps on any of the packaging. Why does this matter? Because everything you buy, everything, has a kosher label of some kind on it. This means the jews are getting paid every time you use some regular shit like mayo, pickles, canned green beans, hot sauce, whatever you can imagine.

No meat? Or are you using rat and dog?

[ - ] 1Icemonkey [op] 3 points 3.5 yearsNov 7, 2021 17:09:09 ago (+3/-0)

I have shrimp, salmon and cod on hand. I could do anything at any moment to toss this up a bit. I can also velvetize pork or beef, which I also have on hand, by the shitload. However, I’m trying it as the recipe goes. Then I make my own changes.
Edit. 2 words. Stupid iPad.

Sounds tasty.

No need to be racist, it could be a toilet-pig.

For the love of God, avoid white button mushrooms, aka Crimini mushrooms, aka portabella mushrooms. They contain HYDRAZINES!!! Go ahead, look up hydrazines.
They’re nearly impossible to cookout to a significant degree. Completely crazy. Some mushrooms cure cancer…

I've followed Paul Stamets for some time. His procedures for killing insects are next level. Mushrooms, especially the psilocybin mushrooms that everyone gets for drug trips, are really a form of poison. The healthiest vegetables to eat are always the ones grown from seeds. There's certain vegetables that are still unhealthy, like corn, because of how genetically modified they are. That being said, moderation is much more the key to a healthy lifestyle than abstention. If you like mushrooms, have some occasionally, but don't eat them every hour of every day, naturally.

Try adding a can of tomato paste once in a while for that Italian flavor base.

[ - ] letsgetit 1 point 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 06:45:07 ago (+1/-0)

Navy beans have that choline in them. Good for the noggin. I'm partial for a good Navy and Lima bean soup.

Soup is my favourite meal (sorry that we have something in common). Had cardamom in some soup the missus cooked the other night - delicious.

You want proper soup...go Scottish. Thank me later

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 7, 2021 23:00:11 ago (+0/-0)

You do know that our soups are better than ching chong’s, right? What’s with the weird obsession of foreign slop by goats here? Very disappointing. Learn to love your own traditions and food.

[ - ] Sheitstrom 1 point 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 00:42:41 ago (+1/-0)

Fuckin' tough crowd here man. We take foreign shit and make it our own. That's the American Way. That's how we have tex mex and all that good stuff. It's ours now.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 10:11:20 ago (+0/-0)

We only make any foreign shit better because we are literally better skilled and with the highest discerning tastes.
Tex mex sucks, as does any fusion ever.
You have been living in mud too long, your tastebuds have been abused too much with the masochistic need for overpowering heat and spices. Bro, you need to retrain your palate for better refinement

Hurr durr, chicken noodle, come on man.

[ - ] ruck_feddit 1 point 3.5 yearsNov 7, 2021 23:20:56 ago (+1/-0)

While that is goddamn hilarious, bok choy is for my tortoise. I'll stick with homemade chicken noodle.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 10:13:06 ago (+0/-0)

It wasn’t funny. And you are right, that grass stuff is for cattle and pets. Cheers for having good taste

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 10:06:11 ago (+0/-0)

Umm really? You could only think of chicken noodle? Weren’t you larping as a Norseman a few weeks ago?
There are innumerable soups that come from the Whites. Take advantage of the season and get some roasted butternut squash soup going. Or you could do a scrumptious scotch beef and barely broth. Or how about cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, broccoli cheddar soups? Let’s not forget watercress soup, carrot and lamb neck soup, pea and ham hock soup and of course the classic chicken vegetable soup. I can go on and on and on. I don’t need to go anywhere else to get the tastiest food ever.

Nothing wrong with trying out some new ingredients, a few centuries ago Europe didn't have tomatoes or potatoes but now they're staples. That said I do think people overlook a lot of European recipes beyond the basics.

[ - ] Sheitstrom 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 00:40:17 ago (+0/-0)

BOK CHOY!!!!! BOK CHOY!!

That is my battling cry for hours after I have some delicious bok choy soup.

I'll give this a try next week.

I made a pot of Cowboy Beans for the week, but once those are gone I'll give your linked recipe a shot.

Here's the recipe I used for the beans:

[ - ] 1Icemonkey [op] 1 point 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 10:30:20 ago (+1/-0)

I make beans very similar to these. Awesome!

[ - ] neolithic 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 10:32:17 ago (+0/-0)

Hell yeah. I'm on day 3 of them. Still have enough to last me until my shopping day on Thursday. What do you do differently in your recipe?

[ - ] boekanier 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 00:59:23 ago (+0/-0)

Ingredients: ginger, beef cube (1/4), garlic, cayenne pepper, hot water, stir well. Don't overdo with pepper, garlic and ground ginger.

[ - ] fightknightHERO 0 points 3.5 yearsNov 8, 2021 01:10:03 ago (+0/-0)

Damn this looks good!

I enjoy making stews for the cold weather. Make a bunch in the crock pot, spoon out into single-serve containers and freeze. Stew on demand for a good while, though it doesn't usually last long.
