Healthy French Fry Recipe.

submitted by WittyUserName to Cooking 2.5 yearsOct 29, 2021 20:49:32 ago (+9/-1)     (Cooking)

What you need:

3 lbs Russet Potatoes
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
Dry Rosemary (crushed between the palms of your hands)

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees and line some baking sheets with parchment paper.

While oven is heating, cut potatoes in half and then in half again to make slabs. Take those slabs and cut them into 1/4 inch thick fries.

Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl (or ziploc bag if you don't have one) and mix by hand until the fries have a good coating.

Put the fries on the sheets and in the oven.

Bake for 25 minutes, then take them out and flip them so they cook evenly on the other side. Return to oven for another 10-15 minutes.

If the fries aren't crispy enough, you can broil them for another minute or two.

Enjoy!

How do you make yours?

Very similar process. But altered to suit my preferences.
After lightly scrubbing the potatoes and leaving the skin on. I wedge them.
Then Put into the microwave for 5-6 mins first, then place on a paper towel to soak off any moisture. So they are par-cooked on the inside before going in the oven
Instead of olive oil (which i did for a long time) i switched back to pure beef lard/ dripping - bc i prefer the taste. But not so much of it so they are 'frying' in it. Only enough dripping to be able to brush/coat/ turn over the wedges, like you would with oil - ideally there is little to no dripping left in the tray after the cooking is completed.
My usual go to is rosemary, pink Himalayan salt, gourmet pepper corns and turmeric which i sprinkle/ grind over after placing the potatoes in the tray with the melted dripping and turn them all over again etc
Sometimes i'll switch around various different combinations using the garlic or chilli flakes or basil etc .
I'll make them probably three times a week on average.
Like i say "Everything tastes better with great oven wedges"
EDIT: Plus i use medium to large spuds, like one/ two per person - equivalent to 6 or so large wedges each.

How is that healthy? Olive oil has tons of fat in it.

"Hurr durr, you guys should be eating sugar and carbs instead. Fat is bad because the (((doctor))) on TV said so!"

I bet you think red meat gives you cancer and everyone should consume 10 servings of wheat and grains daily.

For the record, high protein, high fat, low carb, low sugar diet is based and the most natural thing for one with European heritage. Anything else is goyfeed bullshit or nigger food.

You make a lot of assumptions. So you make up both sides of the conversation and then argue with yourself? That's weird. Fat is healthy in moderation. Nobody mentioned carbs or sugar, retard. What the fuck do you think potatoes are?

Fat is great, fat is super healthy, it's carbohydrates which are harmful and cause health problems.

Fat is healthy in moderation. Potatoes fried in oil are not healthy. This is just as unhealthy as the fries from mcdonalds, probably even moreso since the mcdonalds fries are not dripping in oil.
