The hunter/gatherer relationship between men and women shows in shopping habits.
Men, who traditionally take on the role of hunter, would seek out prey. The best prey was usually fast-moving, so there was no time to hesitate, if you see it, snatch it up. Where there's prey, there are competing predators, so you get out ASAP.
So men get in and get out of stores as fast as they can. They usually know what they want ahead of time and how to most quickly find and acquire it.
Women, in the role of gatherers, would forage for herbs, roots, berries, etc. These items wouldn't fight back, so there was no outstanding immediate danger, at least not from the items being foraged.
However, anything women foraged for had the potential to either be unripe, inedible, horrid-tasting, and in the worst cases, poisonous. So they learned to take their time and sift through the enormous selection, looking for minute details in seemingly identical selections to suss out what was brought back to the tribe.
So women shop slowly, perusing entire racks of items and matching accessories, the same way they once did. The same applies even when they shop for their children or spouses.
Predators tend to prefer more sluggish prey in general though. It's easier to take down a sick, old or very young animal than a sprightly one.
Also, this theory doesn't work very well for explaining the behaviour of lionesses who are obligate carnivores and don't gather berries.
I think a better explanation is that male lions spend a significant part of their lives and solo hunters. Whereas female lions spend their entire lives hunting in a group. Group hunting requires patience and coordination. Solo hunting rewards decisiveness.
There's a documentary out there where the male lion is referred to as the "hyena killer". The lion is showed sleepong and doing fuck all until hyenas fuck with one of his pride. He gets up runs out, and mauls them.
