Now wait a second, perhaps they're leaving the spaces for some very intricate mosaic work.

There's a great video somewhere of a nog building a brick wall and the bricks are literally stacked up in columns instead of being offset layered, with gaps everywhere. Lol

I’ve seen that, and it’s two separate, perpendicular walls because he didn’t join them at the corner iirc.

I don't tile for a living, but I have tiled several rooms in the course of my life while renovating homes I have lived in.... and I can't figure out how the fuck you would end up in this position. If the wall on the left didn't have those cut tiles against the wall, I could see this, but still laugh at the dumb nigger. But I cannot figure out the series of decisions that would have to be made to end up here. It is baffling. It's impressive with just how fucking retarded it is.

the room isn't square, and so there will be wedges against walls (or a seam) to deal with it. I think the proper thing would be to split the difference between the two walls (wedge on each wall) but at this point the guy should make a seam and have the tiles square with the 2 walls (not square with each other).

Yeah I see that it isn't square, but generally you start somewhere and continue out from there. You don't start in 2 separate corners and try to make them meet in the middle. You want the middle of the room to be pristine, and leave the cut tiles on the edges. This dude did a fine job in the top right corner, but that left corner is baffling. You should generally extend out from the tiles that come from one corner or the other, so assuming he started top right, the left corner should have tiles cut and extended from the main line extending down from the first corner.

It is just so baffling. Like I said, I cannot fathom the decisions made unless he tried to measure to meet in the middle and then fucked up the measuring part and execution simultaneously.

This is actually bizarre... I know nothing about laying tile and already I can see at least 2 things that don't make sense and would cause me to reassess my plan.

Niggers planning, that's a good joke.

Thats some ugly ass tile even if installed properly. If youre not going to wall in those pipes youd be better off painting them black, polishing and sealing the floor, and throwing some wood up on a wall for an accent. Thats some nigger tier design. Like painting the fucking pipes white will make them less noticeable, gtfo.

Fck. He might as well just use sawdust ...

all the tiles should follow the orientation of the widest wall, correct?

[ - ] SulemanSeinfeld 2 points 3.7 yearsOct 22, 2021 12:06:01 ago (+2/-0)

One should find the center of the room, lay the first tile there and work out in each direction.

^^ this.

i actually do tile work as a side job as my primary job doesn't pay enough money per post, and this is the smartest way to tile a room

I'm over here getting comments like I pulled this out of my ass. Ive only done self employed home improvement work since '96.
That is the way to do it.

lol, genius method here.

[ - ] x0x7 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 22, 2021 12:39:46 ago (+1/-0)

That might actually look pretty cool.

[ - ] x0x7 1 point 3.7 yearsOct 22, 2021 12:41:34 ago (+1/-0)

I would go with the deepest. Whatever leaves the least area with a different orientation. Then have cut tiles where the two meet.
