The protagonists of the story were not moral but scumbags, opposing antagonists that were also scumbags in a world of scumbags. A very cynical take on humans as basically amoral, there’s no such thing as good guys and bad guys. It was a paradigm shift which favors a jewish world view where “we don’t judge” and it discourages people from trying to be just, altruistic, brave, etc. Tony Soprano was an attempt to kill our heros. Forget about the fact that no one is a faultless selfless hero IRL— we need to believe they exist so that we can strive to be good. Our strong notions of right and wrong are what set us apart from jews and swarthy people. Tony Soprano was created to undermine that. It pandered to angry white men, but what did it do for them?

The Hays code stipulated movies should not invoke sympathy for criminals and wrongdoers. Well the jews got rid of that one.
