Just recently in NZ, a 17 yr old was given 12 months home detention for possessing, sharing and seeking 'extreme cp of the worst kind'.
The Judge ruled he didn't merit a jail term (max 4 and a half years) bc he had suffered continual bullying throughout all his school years, suffered a genetic physical deformity - which made him look different causing the bullying which likely would be repeated in jail and the judge concluded ' He would be unable to survive in jail. It likely would be a death sentence', the judge also mentioned he had few to no friends due to limited socially interaction skills and had no intimate relationships !! (at fcking 17 ).
Oh and did i mention the judge ordered him not to be put on the sexual offenders registry bc of those mitigating factors for sentencing.
Talkback radio was full of sjw/ npc's decrying this poor boys 'unimaginable plight' while in the same breath said these types of crimes were abhorrent and need to be punished but lets make an exception for someone who has had it so rough. At least a few old fellas rang in to say essentially 'Nope , give him the gas'.

No mention of any court ordered rehabilitative care or child abuse programs etc/ no mention of any on-going close supervision, no mention of being ordered to not access the internet or use computers - which is normally a given.

When I was in business up to about 6 months ago I noticed the soliciting calls from Law Enforcement had backed off to zero and it started about 3 years ago.
