This isn’t a review of ‘Far Cry 6’ because, honestly, I can’t play this shit anymore. I just can’t do it.
Matthew Gault of Vice decided he was going to do his job by not doing his job. After declaring that Far Cry 6 was creatively and "morally" bankrupt, he wrote an article complaining that there was too much to do, he had seen it all before and he couldn't even deal with having to actually play the fucking game he was reviewing.
But wait. Morally? That's a strong term; even if the game has microtransactions.
Turns out, that isn't what he's talking about.
To be fair, I didn’t see enough of the game to know it sticks the landing. But there’s little reason to see it through (Ubisoft, after all, recently equated street protests with terrorists in the marketing for a Tom Clancy mobile game).
I have pushed myself through several Far Cry games now because it always felt as if there were something there, just under the surface that I couldn’t quite reach. Fighting religious extremists in Montana is an appealing concept that Ubisoft didn’t pull off. So too with all its other Far Cry games. With their big maps, sprawling story, and big themes the series tricks the player into thinking there’s something interesting going on.
Last year, Ubisoft released a game called Tom Clancy's Elite Squad in which Umbra, the shadowy villains causing all manner of civil unrest, used the raised fist as their emblem.
He proceeded to sperg out; going off on "conspiracy theories" regarding George Soros, the manipulation of the media and the new world order.
And he's
still pissed about it. Toss in the bit we all know about these faggots being pissed Far Cry 5 wasn't the "murdering white, Christian conservatives" simulator they thought it was and you have a recipe for the woke checking out.
And so Gault can't bring himself to review a game by a company refusing to fulfill his darkest fantasies by making off-hand remarks on microtransactions and mental exhaustion.
What a faggot.

FC1 was cool for me because I had built a monstrous PC (for the time) and showed off my epeen with screenshots of FC1 maxed out on IRC channels. It was also legitimately fun and a game that bridged the gap between oldschool and moder shooters. Nowadays, it's obviously the worst of both worlds.
