I’ve always taken this approach with driving and it has saved me a fair number of accidents. Particularly not believing people’s indicators until I see them start to turn has saved me at least two bad smashes.
They realized too late that traffic slowed. Accident either way. They still would've rear ended the car in front of them if they didn't pull in front of the bus.

The worst nightmare being stupid impulsive, impatient drivers who just have to switch lanes suddenly because they were too busy looking ahead in the seconds before.
I've had this happen to me a thousand times while on my bike, the worst is when an oncoming vehicle crosses lanes and is now right in front of you. My closest calls were coming into Denver on 125S bound and on the 401East in Toronto.
Yeah, had a female driver do a u-turn without indicating in front of my pal, doing a 110 kph while i was pillion. No where to go. So i launched myself up and over my friend as we hit, over her car and looked at her face on the way past. I got a good look at the speedometer as i went over too - all those stories of time slowing down in moments of high stress etc - yep, true.
Anyways, i flew through the air for maybe 4 or 5 seconds thinking 'this gonna hurt when i land' and had it my head to 'just roll !!'. Not that i had any real options. Sure enough every part of body got pulverised at the same time. But i did find myself rolling, and that i couldn't stop lol. So maybe 20 - 30 rolls later inertia had expired and i gently tapped up against a street pole.
Long story short - after a check out at the hospital i walked away that night with a few scuffs, bruises and some light abrasions, and a helmet that had 8-10 inch long strip shorn right through the outer shell to the inner lining. My friend took out the front half of her car with his bike - moved the entire engine block off its center axis to sit where the left wheel normally sat, careened off and then slid with the bike into a deep gutter, the bike flipped out over the gutter cleared a four foot high fence to sit upside down in someones front yard. He had multiple contusions, leg and neck injury's and a wheel chair for about 6 weeks. Moral of the story, bitches can't drive, accidents are just waiting to happen, and most of all make sure your helmet is strapped on tight.

I dodged a piece of plywood like that once when I was driving my entire extended family around in a van. They freaked out on me, not being the ones driving.
