Since you're a fan of Fripp, have you heard the album he did with Andy Summers, "I Advance Masked"? Rather minimalist, it's a far cry from his progressive work, but the guitar work is amazing. I don't know how well it sold, but it had enough of a release where I was able to buy a cassette when I was in the navy in the early 80s in our ship's store.

Most of Robert Fripp's opus can be difficult listening, but it's always worthwhile. Every one of his King Crimson albums is unique and challenging in a very interesting way. I particularly like his use of the Mellotron.
I agree. While progressive/jazz does produce some beautiful and complex melodies, it does require a certain taste to fully enjoy it. After Fripp left I lost most interest in KC.
