KDE is not a distro though. The article says many distros have telemetry in their KDE flavor (=distro comes preinstalled with KDE desktop environment/packages), though some have disabled it by default.
There are other things to worry about too, such as /usr/share/defaults/at-spi2/accessibility.conf cat /path/to/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/.local/share/recently-used.xbel

I've started with Artix first. My impressions were that the OS is pretty much Arch with just a different init. There is no effort to prevent systemd from creeping in eventually, and all of them were patched with elogind instead. I've run into trouble using the s6 version, but the Artix dudes were unable to solve it and gave up.
Obarun actively puts in effort to avoid systemd, and all its "user authentication service" bullshit. I did ran into trouble sometimes, but as long as you ask after putting in some effort to self-diagnose, and don't demand to be spoonfed copy-paste commands, they know their own distro inside out and can help you out. 66-tools is a huge boon to the s6 init, it simplified the learning curve and actually helped me learn a little more about how inits work.
This website, which I've linked to over here before, gives a good run-down with its various posts on different aspects: https://sysdfree.wordpress.com/
I remember reading about this and Mint about 5 years ago? Not sure but I was surprised Linux distros would do such a thing. This got me looking into more secure distros.
Kali is listed way at the bottom in this article as not having this telemetry. I made a tutorial on how to run it in vmware if anyone is interested.
Also Whonix is a good Linux distro. I'm using it now and you can run it as a VMS also if you want to test it out. Better to run Whonix on two computers. One is your workstation and the other is the Gateway (which you launch first and connect to).

I've been wanting to migrate to a non-systemd distribution anyway I guess.
