Funny thing is that I don't think this has anything to do with crypto. Have been seeing the same issue with many components and goods coming out of the east.
I was "lucky" enough to get a mid range GPU early this year without paying out the ass thanks to EVGA's queueing system. Sadly I think too many have caught on and now they're backed up for months. I know for nvidia their demand is crazy high because of all the mining and also many PC soys are eager to keep up or stay ahead of the new xbox and playstation that got released late last year. Gotta be able to play the latest and greatest cuck simulators and nigger quests with the best graphics of course!
AMD's also facing a shortage because of not only demand from the same people I mentioned above, but also because a good chunk of their silicon is going towards of millions of the new xboxes and playstations. It's an all around shitty situation and it sucks that so very few chip manufacturers are capable of meeting the requirements.
While intel is entering the fray next year, they're using TSMC (Taiwanese silicon manufacturers) for the graphics cards, so there will be supply issues since TSMC is also going to be used by AMD, nvidia, apple, I think tesla and a few others. It's going to be like this potentially for YEARS.
In a free market, there would be entrepreneurs that would see the potential for huge sales and get into the chip making business.
However, another bottleneck is the companies that make the equipment for making chips, which are also few and far between, commanding huge chunks of cash for a single machine of any scale, let alone the ones capable of going below 20nm for chips.
No matter what, there are only a handful of companies in the chip making supply chain, almost as if by (((design))).
lolol I wasn't attacking your kind. I meant actual soyboys and betas who game on PC and just mindlessly consoom everything and probably go along with the mainstream narratives. E.g. The kinds who unironically think that commie game disco elysium makes great political commentary and gone home was heckin' amazeballs!
I don't think it is the GPU itself that is the issue.
Currently there are only a handful (3?) chip makers in the entire world for large scale production. This means that anyone wanting chips has to anticipate and order what they need potentially years in advance. Once those chips sell out, there is a long wait for more supply.
Intel probably does not make chips anymore, because that is a very expensive process.
Globalists think it is better to share the investment in the few places than to do everything yourself.
Pendulum swings from one side to the other.
Henry Ford ran into problems because he couldn't get parts for his cars because of worker strikes. Ford then made sure the entire process was under his control - Ford mining, Ford Rubber, Ford Steel, etc.
Now it seems each company only does one thing - and outsources the rest.
Paperpushers will always find things cheaper when someone else does the dirty work - which is why outsourcing and china finally gained prominence in the last half of the 20th century.
Nobody ever thinks of the non-monetary reasons for manufacturing, such as security, supply chain reliability, better wages and employee morale, just to name a few.

Actually they're one of the few that DO still have their own fabs (and they're still stuck on the 9,000th revision of 14nm while everyone else has moved on). AMD, NVIDIA, and most others will outsource to Global Foundries or TSMC.
I think Samsung has their own fab for the Exynos lines, and Apple with the M1. But everyone else uses a 3rd party, IIRC.

Opportunity will be there for years.
As I said, getting the equipment will be a bottleneck too.
