The was a recent very large scale study (out of India I think it was) that was based on actual infection data that clearly showed that masks had some significant value for stopping transmission of CoViD. From what I could tell it was well designed and had a high enough confidence level to not be dismissed out of hand. I'm not saying that there's no chance it's a flawed study but I am saying that at at least this level of analysis I think it would be a mistake to discount it.

My point being only that it's not difficult to find multiple studies that supports your position on this matter, and that choosing only studies that support your position is nothing more than cherry picking.

My opinion is that masks are worse than useless, based on my own observations and on several studies in particular one done at MIT. I am immediately suspicious of studies that claim to prove that masks provide protection but acknowledge that apparently credible ones do exist.

Like climate science the issue of masks has become heavily politicized and a key strategy of many powerful and influential groups. This makes it, like for climate science, very difficult to get good data to base your decision on.

It's the same fucking mess for Ivermectin. I've read as many studies that 'prove' it's useful as studies that prove it's useless. Well actually the 'useful' studies seem to be winning out now. But initially the bulk of the studies showed it had little or no value against covid, so over a year and a bit it's probably a wash.

Then bring up that people working with some of the most infectious diseases known do so inside of airtight suits with external, filtered oxygen supplies, and they get showered in disinfectant when entering and leaving the room. If they have to go to all that trouble, how is a piece of cloth going to protect against the "deadliest virus known to man"?

35M flu cases in 2018. 40M covid cases 2020-2021. Clearly not more infectious.

Then the even more obvious that the only way we can eradicate getting sick is to eradicate humans...so how far do we need to take this charade?

You could try pointing out that you don't have to wear a mask anywhere in Norway and they are fine.

So much of the bible is context. In this case, there are several literal interpretations that counter your argument. Leprosy is bacterial, it requires much exposure, and it is believed that it is spread through sputum ejections (phlegmy cough.) In this case, the much larger than viral bacteria riding on sputum would be stopped by even the worse mask. But also, note he is to live in isolation and make his disease known. Simply, if the sick would stay the fuck home, most of the proble would be solved. Asymptomatic (unvaxxed) do not pass covid. A Chinese study of almost a million people in Wuhan showed zero cases of transmission from asymptomatic persons.
