Lol I also used it... on a FreeBSD install running Fluxbox for an ultralight WM and basically running everything through Z Shell terminals.

The novelty wore off fast.

You'd dial local bbs's. 1337 users used their free long distance to obtain new stuff from other boards. Teenage kids installed WW4 and made a cool hacker name in ansi art. Warez were uuencoded on usenet, which you could view through the bbs, then zmodem download so if your call got interrupted it could resume.

I used Telemate for my terminal program to dial in to local BBS's. I remember it came with a huge list of BBS's I could dial up in my area. I use to play this sweet text based RPG D&D game on this one BBS I use to always login to.
