Torn soft tissue (cartilage) from the lowest-most rib to your diaphragm hurt more than any cracked rib.

Serious complications other than wish-to-die-to-end-pain are difficulty breathing (dyspnea). If really bad and does not properly heal from re-ripping, then expensive repairs can be made laparoscopically, to affix healing support aids.

Was it a door jamb pullup bar? Never did trust those. Better to just buy a pullup rack, or if you don't want to spend the money, you can just build one.

I was lifting at the gym at the hotel the other day and I re-injured a pulled muscle in my lower back, that I thought was fully healed. Maybe I slipped a disk as well, still not sure. It hurt so bad I couldn't stand up straight and I was walking like a 100 year old man. I then had to go to work the next day in order to get home (railroad life) and it was a miserably painful slow day. I should of just called off sick and had them cab me home, but I'm a stubborn sob.

I'm on the mend somewhat now, but given what I've felt from just a lower back injury in the last 3 days I can only imagine your pain.
